Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Colossians 3:9

Those who have be born again to a living hope, found only in Jesus Christ are new creatures in Him. The body of Christ are a people who have put off the old man. We are to be living lives that are honesty and trustworthy before a watching world.

The Bible says that God hates a lying tongue. Proverbs 6:16-17 says, “These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood.” The Bible also says in Proverbs 12:22, “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.”

Lying is when we say something that we know to be false with the intention to deliberately mislead someone. Below are some questions to help you address this sin of deceit. Answer them honestly before the Lord. We cannot lie to God as He knows all things about us.

1) Do you ever lie?
2) Do you exaggerate to make yourself look better?
3) Are you guilty of any form of cheating?
4) Do you mislead people?
5) Are you careful to follow through with promises?
6) Is your word your bond or are you unreliable?
7) Do you fall short of promises?

If so, confess your shortcoming to the Lord and ask Him to give you an honest and godly manner. This sin must be dealt with. Lying will destroy your relationships with family, friends and other believers.
